Eternal // 永恒
In November 2019, I had the pleasure of playing at Elevator in Shanghai. We did something that worked well when I was touring in Asia: doing a club set one night, and an ambient one the next day. To coincide with the ambient event, we put together a little booklet including five special album recommendations: ‘Imperial Horizon’ by Kevin Drumm, ‘Anima’ by Vladislav Delay, ‘Together is the New Alone’ by Donnacha Costello, ‘The Path of Spectrolite’ by Imaginary Softwoods, ‘Structures from Silence’ by Steve Roach.
The theme was ‘eternal’, these are works that to me transcend time. I can listen to them forever, in any context, they are there, looping as my life modulates. As I never shared the selection outside of that night at Elevator, I thought it would be worthwhile to do so, and it seemed like a good place to start things for SSG Space. I don’t really have anything further to say about these albums, there is not much point introducing them individually, as each hold the same, permanent place in my world. Eternal.
