Electronic Ambient Remixes
Chris Carter is often known for his role in Throbbing Gristle, and then Chris and Cosey. As a result, I think some of his deeply impressive solo productions get overlooked. Mute has slowly been addressing this with some reissues and archival work. I’m very pleased they decided to remaster and reissue Electronic Ambient Remixes, volumes one and three. I’ve long been a fan of these, but did struggle playing them because of the levels on the originals. The remasters really sound fantastic. Often dark ambient can be rather tiresome, too heavy and overdone. Carter avoids such traps and tropes. His production is spacious and enticing, great for diving deep. I have a slight preference for volume one, but both are well worth your time.
